History:

Hailing originally from Sunagakure, the hidden shinobi village in Kaze no Kuni, Akasuna no Sasori’s only remaining ties to his abandoned desert homeland consist of a legacy of masterwork puppets and an aged grandmother. And though born of two relatively anonymous shinobi, both of whom were slain during some conflict with Konohagakure (it is presumed by Hatake Sakumo) while Sasori was a child, the Suna puppeteer’s family line can be traced to two of the sand village’s most prestigious members, the Gokyoudai, Chiyo (his grandmother, the selfsame woman who would plant a demon imprisoned within a kettle into the womb of a young woman) and Ebizo (his granduncle).

Similar to Chiyo in terms of interests, the child genius followed in his grandmother’s footsteps taking up a life devoted to the mastery of puppetry – his art – along with a concentration in the creation of deadly poisons (most notably ones that imitate a scorpion’s venom, paralyzing the intended target for extended periods of time before slaying the victim). However, unlike those normally fond of using puppetry jutsus, Sasori was rather macabre in his tastes for marionettes – creating his first two hitokugutsu from the corpses of his parents out of longing to feel their arms around him in gestures as simple as a hug. Needless to say, this desire went unfulfilled as wooden dolls, no matter how lifelike, couldn’t match the warmth of another’s touch – however, that didn’t stop the boy from continuing to practice his art.

His genius going unchecked by those of his village as he proved to be quite useful, especially considering that the Daimyo of the wind country seemed less than enthused to procure the services of the Suna shinobi, the number and quality of his hitokugutsu grew exponentially – the ranks of his puppet army swelling with the bodies of those he’d been pitted against in conflicts with other hidden villages (and even the corpses from his own village). However, soon the boy’s lust for more impressive puppets to add to his arsenal grew, and no longer did he bother to conceal his efforts to add to his collection – slaying those outright that he valued enough to transform into a hitokugutsu. Eventually he attracted enough attention from his actions to earn the condemnation of his superiors and was to be incarcerated (or eliminated, the latter preferably), whereupon he simply abandoned his homeland altogether and set out upon the world to expand his ‘art’.

Sometime during the early years of his exile the puppeteer turned his own sadomasochistic skills upon himself, transforming flesh into wood in an effort to preserve himself indefinitely by removing all perceived weakness (namely a flesh and blood body) from him – all save his heart which was required to manipulate the chakra strings that controlled his puppets. It was also during that time that Sasori took to dwelling within Hiruko, an enormous and ultimately unattractive puppet, and was enlisted (with some difficulty) into the Akatsuki.

In his time spent within the Akatsuki’s fold, Sasori gained several of his most impressive pieces within his collection – specifically, the Sadaime Kazekage - and to a less important extent, in his opinion, two partners, neither of which he cared overly much for. His first partner, Orochimaru, abandoned the organization after a brief membership; nevertheless, Sasori bears him some ill will and is responsible for planting the Yakushi spy within the Sannin’s village. His second partner, Deidara, was met with about as much distaste as expressed for the first, and from there his irritation has only grown as the boy’s personality grates him in nearly every way imaginable – especially with his belief that ‘art is a bang’ when it’s anything but.

Personality:

Oddly enough, despite his fascination with eternity, Sasori is temperamentally impatient at heart – and as such, wholly abhors any deviation in terms of schedule or time. Simply put, he is not one for wasting time, nor he is one to favor tardiness in any way, shape, or form. And almost in complete juxtaposition with his craft, the puppeteer is as frugal with his actions and words as he is with his time, and is, under his own terms, curiously loyal to those he deems his subordinates, if only in the aspect that he dislikes loosing any of them through the frivolous or even thoughtless dealings of his fellows.

Nevertheless, if there is one aspect of Sasori’s personality that stands out the most, aside from his arrogance and obsession with control, it is in his indulgence in utter sadism – his ‘fine art’ consisting nothing more than the mutilation transformation of human bodies into easily manipulatable wooden puppets. And in concurrence with his inflated ego, the puppeteer looks down upon any that disagree that his craft is the ultimate archetype of art. Nor does he bother wasting effort to hide his disdain of other art forms, often belittling anything in opposition of his views with thinly veiled verbal barbs.

How do they feel about Danzo?:

While Danzo is more or less an unimportant person to Sasori personally – he is considered to be a (currently) far removed threat if only because the changes he is bringing about to Konoha. A more militant country could prove to be problematic to the schemes of the Akatsuki, so the Danzo or rather his governmental changes are to be quashed as quickly as possible (so long as Sir Leader does not disapprove). However, while the new Hokage could (and most likely will) prove to be a thorn in his side, the puppeteer does have a mild respect for how quickly everything within Konoha has been overhauled and reworked.

Abilities/Specialties:

Generally speaking, Sasori uses a slew of puppets to fight for him, leaving using his actual body for only the direst of situations.

And for the majority encounters, the sheer destructive force of Hiruko is more than enough to defeat his enemies. Equipped with poison, strength, and a small amount of agility, the mighty puppet is able to handle most situations. However, should Hiruko fail, Sasori has nearly 300 other puppets at his disposal.

All of these puppets, of course, are made out of the bodies of his defeated enemies. While a fool, such as Naruto, may find this of no consequence, this actually serves an important purpose – besides scaring the shit out of his enemies. Without the lines of chakra that come from his living body, Sasori is unable to use any forms of ninjutsu – to solve this problem, he uses the bodies of victims to make puppets, as this allows the dolls to carry on their bloodline abilities.

As his last line of defense, Sasori has his own mutilated body, stripped of bone and muscle and sinew to become something that is almost invincible. Even ignoring the obvious advantages wood products have against easily damaged flesh and bone, his entire body is filled with underlying traps. On the off chance that anyone gets close enough to attack, the only part of his body that can be harmed is his heart – which is there to control his puppets and his body through chakra strings.
